The iiRDS Online Training has been completely revised until summer 2026 and is now offered as a self-study course. Based on your individual prerequisites you can choose the training program which suits to your needs.
Content and Organization of the iiRDS Online Training
The new iiRDS training program consists of two trainings which can be booked individually and are specifically shaped to the needs of technical writers in the compact training package (level one) and information architects in the comprehensive training version (level two). Technical writers receive a well-explained overview of the structure and features of iiRDS, with a focus on how they can practically use iiRDS in their working environment. The training course for architects delves into the details of modeling meta data models and is longer in duration, while it leaves out the topic of content creation.
Level One - iiRDS Online Training for Technical Writers
In the current age of digitization, technical writers are increasingly faced with new demands for information provisioning and content delivery. Daily work activities in smart factory environments require delivering content to multiple touchpoints. This online training is specifically designed towards the future needs of technical writers and touches pain points such as
- how to assign metadata for variants,
- implementing reuse of content in complex CCMS, and
- dealing with reservations about metadata.
Learning Objectives
After the training, you’ll understand why iiRDS is needed for intelligent content delivery. Even more importantly, the training enables you to apply iiRDS metadata to content in your working environment (e.g. CCMS, XML editor).

Level Two - iiRDS Online Training for Information Architects
Information Architects need to address new demands for content delivery. This extended online training provides you with the necessary background and toolset to
- extend your existing information architecture for smart content and to configure CCMS
- set up a toolchain for iiRDS
- set up a CDP according to your users´needs
- set up a coherent data chain and integrate product data with the respective technical documentation.
Learning Objectives
With this online training you will learn to understand why iiRDS is needed for intelligent content provisioning. The training gives you hands-on material in your daily work to apply iiRDS metadata to the content you create. It touches practical topics such as how to move from documents to smart content; how to develop a scalable metadata model; and how to implement iiRDS as delivery format. You will be able to establish a tool chain for smart content and make content suitable for various user touchpoints. Finally, another training module addresses aspects of how to fulfil legal requirements, e.g. the EU machine directive.
Target group: users already familiar with metadata, package formats, ontologies, or toolchains.
Duration: study time of approximately 6.5 hours, including more complex exercises.
