On July 9, 2025, the iiRDS Steering Committee met in person at HELLER in Nürtingen. The annual meeting included a fascinating factory tour, offering insights into the company’s history and production processes.

The focus of the meeting was the exchange on current iiRDS topics and future directions. The Steering Committee approved two pilot project fundings and commissioned new initiatives designed to make it easier for companies to get started with iiRDS.

In the second half of the year, the iiRDS Consortium is working on two major projects:

  • the development of a Guide for the Standardized Use of iiRDS, and
  • an update and extension of the iiRDS Online Training, which will enable complete self-study starting in 2026.

In parallel, the first working sessions of IEC Technical Committee 3, Working Group 28, took place. Following the approval of the New Work Item Proposal in March, the group aims to prepare a Committee Draft for Vote by the end of the year, integrating the latest iiRDS developments and VDI 2770 requirements into an international IEC standard (IEC 63485).
